Friday, August 15th 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
Posture is how we live in our bodies - the sum total of everything that has happened during our lives and how
we felt about it. In addition, our posture holds the potential for everything we can become. These habits of use
have a profound affect on patterns of musculoskeletal tension within the body. In this class we will explore
various postural patterns and their affect on spinal balance. You will learn techniques and exercises for
promoting balanced posture within your own body, as well as for working with clients. Also, techniques for
working with spinal curvatures and scoliosis. |

I appreciate the gentle approach to Ortho-Bionomy. The relief and corrections that I achieve during sessions are easy to integrate and maintain. I especially appreciate the ability to implement much of the work on my own to continue to find relief between sessions. The ability to affect change quickly and gently has been a highlight of getting to know Ortho-Bionomy. I recommend it to everyone. |

Many Ortho-Bionomy workshop attendees are massage therapists, body workers and alternative medicine practitioners. Many are searching for additional ways they can support their clients healing process. They are also looking for a way to increase the longevity of their current practice, which can be physically demanding on their own bodies. Ortho-Bionomy can compliment your existing practice by providing balance, comfort and stress relief.
As massage therapists, we understand the toll that performing massage can take on your own body. An aching back, wrists, hands and shoulders are common issues massage therapists face. Ortho-Bionomy can significantly decrease the pressure and force you apply in a client session, and can decrease the subsequent wear and tear on your body. In our Ortho-Bionomy workshops, you not only learn healing techniques, but body mechanics so you can provide supportive therapy to your clients, while reducing the stress placed on your own body.
Ortho-Bionomy can change the dynamic of your services, from trying to "fix" your clients to instead supporting and facilitating their healing. In Ortho-Bionomy, clients actively participate in their own recovery and healing. Practitioners perform a gentle, non-invasive form of body therapy that works with chronic stress, injuries and pains or problems associated with postural and structural imbalances. These gentle positions, combined with self care techniques, facilitate changes in the client’s stress and pain patterns. With Ortho-Bionomy, we recognize the client’s pattern, find the position of comfort, exaggerate the position of comfort, and in turn support the body’s self-correcting reflexes.
By attending Ortho-Bionomy workshops you have the opportunity to learn new techniques through hands on experience. You leave our workshops with skills you can use for yourself, and with your clients. We offer several course options in the Indianapolis area. Our instructors are trained and registered by the Society of Ortho-Bionomy International.

Danyell’s Story I came to Ortho-Bionomy with chronic pain from a car accident. After my first Ortho-Bionomy session, I got enough relief to get a good night’s sleep. After a series of sessions and self care exercises, my pain decreased significantly. The best part was how empowering it was to be so involved in my healing. Many times with bodywork, I felt like it was being done to me, but with Ortho-Bionomy this was not the case. I knew I needed to know more about Ortho-Bionomy, both for my own self care, and to support my clients.
It blends well with my other modalities. Ortho-Bionomy is my first approach when I find an area that needs attention. It may be a muscle that is tight, or a shoulder that is sore. By gently exaggerating positions that decrease or relieve pain, holding the position and possibly applying compression, the pain pattern can be interrupted. As the muscle or area unwinds, a client may feel immediate relief. Then, if the client has come to me for a massage, I massage the area and the rest of the body, helping to support and integrate the shift. At the end of the session, the client and I go over some self care techniques that can be helpful to continue support of their healing process.
